How to Calculate Marks Percentage Accurately
Calculating overall marks percentage is the universal benchmark across schools, colleges, and competitive exams. The mathematical formula for aggregate percentage is:
Important Pitfall: Avoid averaging subject percentages directly if different subjects carry different maximum totals. For example, getting 60/75 in Biology (80%) and 45/50 in English (90%) yields an aggregate percentage of (105 ÷ 125) × 100 = 84.0%, whereas averaging 80% and 90% yields 85.0%. Adopted under national education reforms: A++ (95-100%), A+ (90-94%), A (85-89%), B++ (80-84%), B+ (75-79%), B (70-74%), C (60-69%), D (50-59%), E (40-49%), and U/Fail (<40%). The passing threshold is strictly 40%.
Cambridge CAIE (O-Level & IGCSE)

IBCC Cambridge Equivalence
